Description:

The project Balkan Solar Roofs is funded under the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Its goal is to promote and facilitate the implementation of 500 new solar roofs in cities across the Balkan Peninsula by 2024. The pilot implementation areas include the cities of Poreč-Parenzo (Croatia), Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Kragujevac (Serbia). The project aims to support 40 local government units interested in replicating the process of increasing solar energy in their communities through the Balkan Solar Roofs project. Led by the international association "Energy Cities," the project also receives contributions and support from the Regional Education and Information Centre for Sustainable Development for Southeast Europe (REIC) based in Sarajevo. The Green Energy Cooperative - ZEZ (Croatia), headquartered in Zagreb, provides cities with technical expertise and support in the field of solar energy utilization.
